Now he has generously donated a major new painting, Emu, Salvator Rosa, for auction at the Reed Charity Foundation 2005 Gala Ball to be held later this month on the Sunshine Coast.
Backhaus-Smith was more than happy to volunteer to be part of this event where funds raised this year will go to towards constructing an orphanage at Machilipatnam, India, an area devastated by the Boxing Day tsunami.
The framing for the work will be donated by Art on Cairncross who have represented Rex in this region for over ten years.
