The Maleny Handcrafts Market presented the Maleny 5th Light Horse Troop
with a cheque for $500, which will allow the troop to purchase two
saddles. The grant was made possible in response to an approval from
troop commander Joe Colreavy who, in a recent interview by The Range
News, requested assistance to increase their tackle inventory.
In keeping with the not-forprofit Maleny Handcrafts Markets? defined objectives, to return surplus funds to the community, the grants committee contacted the troop to find a specific project they could donate to and the purchase of two saddles was approved. Mr Colreavy and troop secretary Regine Deubner were presented with the cheque from founding market member Doug Chambers and market treasurer Estelle Perrin.
Continued support from the Maleny community and tourists over the last 15 years has meant the market can grant thousands of dollars to worthy causes in the community. Those who have benefited include the Maleny RSL, Rural Fire Brigade, Maleny Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Maleny Community Centre and TS Centaur.
The market thanks all for their past patronage and looks forward to their future support so that further grants can be made possible. The Maleny Handcrafts Market is held every Sunday from 8am to 2pm in the Maleny Community Centre.
