A$480 million project to boost hinterland rail services was launched at Landsborough Station on Monday by Transport and Main Roads Minister Paul Lucas.   The project will provide the green light for the CAMCOS high speed service between Brisbane, Caloundra and Maroochydore.

It will be constructed in two stages: a 14km section from Caboolture to Beerburrum and a 17km section from

Carolyn Male and Paul Lucas announced improved rail services between Beerburrum and Landsborough at Landsborough on Monday.
Beerburrum to Landsborough.   Mr Lucas released for public comment the government's preferred rail corridor from Beerburrum to Landsborough.   Mr Lucas said the preferred rail corridor from Beerburrum to Landsborough would provide a safer and more efficient rail service with further time savings for travellers.

Mr Lucas said the preferred alignment was a result of community consultation regarding the routes which saw the number of properties severely affected reduced from 23 to six  of which three were farms.   "The new corridor does impact on some landowners and those people will be consulted about their individual needs," he said.   Div Two Cr Anna Grosskreutz, who was at the forefront of demonstrations last year against a route that would have seen many more people affected, was pleased with the new corridor.

"The new route looks good on paper,"  she said. "And now the government has factored in compensation for affected landholders which wasn't there before.   So there are funds to actually acquire farms if owners are impacted so severely that they can't survive - which might be attractive to some people."

We need the train line to be duplicated so eventually the CAMCOS corridor can shoot off to the Coast.   And they can't do that corridor until they upgrade this one.   And also they need to be able to cater for the tilt train and our normal rail services at the same time, hence the need for duplicated lines.
