Our Restaurant Rules - Terrace has new owners
Written by Administrator

No, don?t panic, this isn?t a review of another reality television show!    Just to let you know that one of Maleny?s iconic restaurants has changed ownership.    And whilst its format and the menu remain little changed, you might notice a few pleasant alterations made by its new proprietors Nigel and Jade Guttridge.

The interior of The Terrace of Maleny, previously the Terrace Seafood Restaurant perched high on the Maleny-Landsborough Road, has received an interior make-over.

The refurbishment has seen all the chairs totally reupholstered, a contemporary fire feature installed and a Spanish-themed feature tile wall created.    ?We gave the restaurant a face lift,? said Nigel.    ?Our idea was to create a neutral scheme which was both warm in the winter and fresh for the summer.?

When I visited the restaurant it glowed with warmth thanks to its new colour scheme, even on an empty rainy morning.   Jade said they picked rich red colours to reflect the natural environment and the famous earth of Maleny.    Whilst the restaurant is renowned for its fantastic seafood, Chef Benjamin Limpus also serves up other tantalising dishes and its new owners wanted to stress this.

?Our menu caters for all tastes with quality dishes for those who may have shellfish allergies, or maybe they just don?t like fish,? said Nigel.    ?Other popular dishes on the menu include rib-eye fillets and a lamb shank hot pot which just falls off the bone.?    And all that tucker comes, wherever possible, from local sources.

?It?s a key part of our business ethics to support the local producers,? said Jade.    Between them they have a combined 25 years in the hospitality and restaurant trade and had their first joint-management experience at a ski lodge in Thredbo Village, New South Wales.

There the now husband and wife team oversaw a business with 37 rooms plus a restaurant and bar with 100 covers.    Meanwhile, Jade, maiden name Rufford for you locals, is a Range girl born and bred, has just completed a degree in Business and Marketing, which she hopes to put to good use at the restaurant.

And incidentally both individuals are no strangers to The Terrace, because they worked there during the summer of 1998 ? and it was the beginning of a love affair.    ?It?s a truly beautiful restaurant with great food, great views which has always attracted a great clientele,? said Nigel.    ?Who wouldn?t want to work here??

The restaurant will continue to offer its signature dish of Seafood Chowder whilst other firm favourites include the Lamb Shank and spectacular Granite Grill, where you take the heat off the chef and cook a veritable plethora of assorted seafood on a sizzling granite grill placed right in front of you.
