A new series of abstracts by innovative artist Sharon Stone is expected to entice art lovers and interior designers to her upcoming solo exhibition at The Tree Frog Gallery next month.
Entitled Connections, the exhibition will showcase paintings constructed using phi, the Golden Mean of sacred geometry. Each painting in the series - of which 23 sold in December and January alone - uses circles as a metaphor for people and symbolises the complexity of our connections with each other.
"The idea for this new work evolved from my fascination with relationships, and I am also intrigued by phi, the golden ratio of antiquity, which is said to have been crucial in everything from designing the pyramids to constructing the Stradivarius violin," Sharon said.
"For instance, phi appears in the shape of the nautilus shell, and rose petals, and even our galaxy, so I wanted to explore its possibilities when it comes to the way we connect with each other as human beings." "My artistic style is forever evolving because I like moving on to things that are fresh and exploratory. I'm an avid reader, and when I delve into a subject I can't resist painting it," she says. Sharon Stone's Connections exhibition opened March 12 and will run for a month at The Tree Frog Gallery, Montville Road just north of Maleny.
