MALENY resident and author Bill Johnston has taken over five years to complete his book on George Essex Evans, Patriotic Poet of Australia, His Life and Family.
Last week Bill had his first launch by Mayor Di Thorley in Toowoomba, as Evans was a Toowoomba identity.
Last Friday evening local councillor Dick Newman fittingly launched the book at the Maleny Library along with invited guests.
Cr Newman said it was exciting to once again see the many talented side of Maleny residents.
Guests were also treated to a beautiful rendition of The Women of the West, one of Evans’ famous poems with music by Sandra Whybird of Toowoomba and sung by The Goodwills.
The book is available from Rosetta Books and Maleny Newsagency for $29.95.
