ORGANISERS of the highly successful Hinterland Young Artists awards were delighted to receive some funding assistance for this year's show.
Former councillor Ian Bryce, who was one of the main instigators of the awards, acknowledged the support provided by council and major sponsors Maleny Apex and Ken Hind.
A change of venue to the Maleny High School Activity Centre was well received by a large crowd who attended the official opening.
The event attracted a large number of entries with judges making many positive comments on the high standard achieved.
Deputy mayor Anna Grosskreutz attended the awards, which has a high level of entries from the Glass House country district. Cr Grosskreutz acknowledged the quality of work from our young artists.
"We are very lucky to have s many talented young people in our area. The future of art in the hinterland is secure," she said. Division One councillor Dick Newman thanked the volunteers.
"I know that this event requires a lot of hard work and effort. I want council to get behind it and provide the support that our volunteers deserve."
