ON WEDNESDAY, May 31 the Maleny Platypus Girl Guides held their first promise ceremony since the group was (re)formed last year.
Leaders Meg (Leawarra) Weymark and Marilyn (Kilpa) Large made their promises first to Guides Queensland area development manager Cheryl Harmer.

Girls then made their promises, with Meg, Marilyn and Cheryl presiding over the ceremony, including Carmen Grady, Danielle Kelly, Chelsea Large, Aryah Little, Rowanndra Pameijer, Elise Scott, Hayley Vance and Ruth Weymark.
Those who made their promise were presented with a promise badge, world badge and a certificate.
The Girl Guides are involved in numerous activities, from camping to cooking. The fire circle is always popular.
The girls are encouraged to plan and lead an activity each week.
Members attended a district camp in February, with another one planned for next May. The guides will now start working towards their badges.
Maleny Platypus Girl Guides is open to girls aged eight and over and meets each Wednesday from 4pm to 5.30pm at the hut, Cedar Street (next to the Kindergarten).
