International Volunteers Day at Australia Zoo
Written by Administrator
Tuesday, 18 December 2007
Australia Zoo was pleased to join in the celebration for International Volunteers Day by hosting a recognition breakfast for the hundreds of volunteers from the Sunshine Coast information centres.

Approx 200 Sunshine Coast Tourism Centre volunteers enjoyed exclusive early entry into Australia Zoo for a scrumptious buffet breakfast, which was a reward for the valuable contribution they have made for tourism in and around the Sunshine Coast.    To showcase how important this contribution is, the CEO of Tourism Sunshine Coast, Mr John Fitzgerald attended the breakfast to personally thank the volunteers first hand for the massive work they do for the Sunshine Coast Tourism Industry.

Australia Zoo supports the volunteers and this is evident by the zoo having over 550 paid staff and over 100 volunteers.    They assist with numerous key zoo aspects from customer service to animal care & rehabilitation. Australia Zoo's Business Development Manager, Wayne Poole addressed the volunteers to thank them & let them know that Australia Zoo wouldn't be where we are today without the valuable contribution of itís internal and external volunteer partners.
